Summary
SA Tax Guide is built around a simple principle: you shouldn't have to hand over personal or financial information to use a calculator. This policy explains exactly what happens to the information you enter, what we collect automatically, and the choices you have.
Calculator inputs
Salary amounts, ages and other figures entered into our calculators are used only to generate the result displayed on the page. They are not written to a database, logged against your identity, or shared with any third party. Each calculation is processed independently and is not retained after the page finishes loading.
Contact form
If you use our contact form, the name, email address and message you provide are used solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add contact form submissions to a marketing list, and we do not share them with third parties. You may request that we delete a past enquiry at any time — see "Your rights" below.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information for every visit — such as IP address, browser/user-agent, referring page, and the pages requested — for security, fraud prevention and aggregate traffic analysis. These logs are not used to build a profile of you personally and are retained only as long as reasonably necessary.
Cookies
This site may use a small number of cookies to support basic functionality (such as remembering your last selected tax year) and aggregated, privacy-respecting analytics to understand which calculators and guides are most useful. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; core calculators will still work, though some convenience features may not.
Advertising and Google AdSense
This site may display third-party advertising, including through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. This may include remarketing and demographic/interest reporting.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising via the Digital Advertising Alliance. For full detail on how Google uses data when you use our site, see Google's advertising and how Google uses data page.
Your rights (POPIA)
In line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, request that we correct inaccurate information, or request that we delete information you've previously submitted (for example, a past contact form message). To exercise any of these rights, contact us via our contact page.
Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the site and any information submitted through it. Attempting to gain unauthorised access to this site, or submitting malicious code through any form or input field, is prohibited.
Third-party links
Our guides link to official sources such as SARS and the Department of Employment and Labour. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites you visit via these links.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for general use by adults managing their own payroll and tax questions and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the site evolves, including to reflect changes in the advertising or analytics services we use. Significant changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
