Salary converter FAQs

How do I convert an hourly rate to a monthly salary?

Multiply your hourly rate by your working hours per day, then by working days per week, then by 52 weeks, and divide by 12. This calculator does all of that for you the moment you enter your hours and days worked.

Does this converter account for tax?

No — this is a gross-to-gross conversion between pay periods only. To see what you'd actually take home after PAYE and UIF, run the result through the PAYE calculator.

Why do I need to enter hours per day and days per week?

Converting between an hourly or daily rate and a monthly or annual salary depends entirely on how many hours and days you actually work — not everyone works a standard 8-hour, 5-day week, so the defaults can be adjusted.

Is this useful for comparing job offers?

Yes. If one offer is quoted as an hourly rate and another as an annual salary, converting both to the same period makes it much easier to compare them fairly before you negotiate.
